As federal regulators eye nonprime lending warily, compliance attorneys are helping their lender clients to understand the legal potholes in this highly risky lending arena. Outside attorneys say that while they have not seen any lawsuits being filed that involve specialty mortgages, there are potential issues upon which a borrower could base a complaint.
