Technology makes compliance with anti-predatory laws less burdensome than subprime lenders claim, a new study by the Center for Responsible Lending has found. The cost of complying with state mortgage laws is a “small percentage” of lending expenses, the group revealed in a recent white paper. “Strong compliance may also reduce lenders’ expenses by lowering the incidence of time-consuming and expensive foreclosures,” the study concluded.
