Certain Republican lawmakers and providers of flood zone determinations are urging the Federal Emergency Management Agency to reevaluate its program to modernize the nation’s flood insurance rate maps to avoid delays and cost increases, as well as other unforeseen burdens on mortgage lenders and homeowners. During a hearing this week, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity looked into FEMA’s ability to complete the map modernization project at current funding levels.
