A final rule approved recently by the Securities and Exchange Commission could make it more expensive for mortgage lenders to use the fastest-growing securitization option currently available in the secondary market: the non-agency MBS market. The SEC late last month approved a sweeping final rule that overhauls registration and disclosure requirements for a variety of publicly-issued securities, including stock, debt and so-called private label MBS.
