The Federal Housing Administration plans to eliminate its “gotcha” approach to supervision and engage FHA lenders more in “frank, open exchanges,” said a top agency official. The less confrontational supervisory style is part of the FHA’s effort to lure back lenders and consumers with streamlined policies, new and modified regulations, and new products designed to compete with private subprime lenders.
