The mortgage banking industry is consulting with allies in Illinois in an effort to kill or modify legislation passed by the Illinois General Assembly that could serve as a model for tracking predatory lending by zip codes. Although the industry has succeeded in narrowing the geographic scope of the bill, it continues to cause major concerns among industry participants. The Mortgage Bankers Association said it is planning to meet with Democrat Gov. Rod Blagovich’s
