Disclosures are not working well for consumers, and are imposing unnecessary burdens on bankers, according to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s chief enforcer. In remarks to the Economic Group Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act Outreach Meeting, Acting Comptroller Julie Williams said despite good intentions and enormous expense, consumers just see “a haze of fine print, instead of the information they want and need” in making personal credit decisions.
