It appears that Fannie Mae’s accounting problems will guarantee that the Fannie Mae Foundation will log a fourth consecutive year of dwindling assets and greatly curtailed spending. The cuts will also spur the nonprofit to further reduce spending on its controversial advertising campaign – which ate up 40 percent of expenditures in 2003.
