Barely a week after the raw 2004 Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data became publicly available from individual lenders, several major banks are already battling consumer advocates over the use of new pricing data to support a charge of discriminatory lending against minority borrowers. Inner City Press/Fair Finance Watch, a New York-based consumer watchdog group, this week released the first study of 2004 HMDA lending patterns using loan pricing information that lenders were required to
