A number of mainstream mortgage market lenders that had the capacity to pounce on a rebound in refinance business appeared to outperform the overall market as originations kicked slightly higher in the fourth quarter of 2004. But lenders specializing in the non-conforming markets – subprime and Alternative A – continued to put up some of the strongest growth numbers in the last three months of the year, a new Inside Mortgage Profitability analysis reveals.
