The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has notified its examiners and national banks of specific actions the agency would take against certain violations, as well as unsafe and unsound practices and conditions. The OCC’s enforcement action policy allows it some discretion in choosing the most appropriate response to violations. The agency, however, makes it clear that discretion is not always an option.
