Mortgage lenders, brokers, and other users of consumer reports will have fewer hassles complying with new federal regulations concerning disposal of stored consumer information, according to the Federal Trade Commission. Many of the requirements in the newly finalized “disposal rule” are already being followed by the same entities covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act’s “safeguards rule,” the agency said.
