Subprime lenders have asked Fannie Mae to show its hand and reveal evidence that the government-sponsored enterprise says suggests wide-spread loan steering. “If Fannie Mae has any new information showing definitively that large numbers of nonprime borrowers could qualify for prime loans, we would be very interested in seeing it,” said Mitchell Feinstein, chairman of the National Home Equity Mortgage Association, in a November 5 letter to Fannie Mae Chairman and CEO Franklin Raines.
