The use of automated valuation models by mortgage lenders is increasing slowly, but the amount of data about the reliability of AVMs is now substantial enough that they should gain much wider acceptance in the next few years, according to an analysis done by Standard & Poor’s. “Similar to when automated underwriting valuation models were introduced nearly a decade ago, the mortgage lending industry is slow to adopt new technology,” the S&P analysts write. …
