Two house lawmakers are joining forces on a predatory lending bill that backers say will wrap new consumer protections, licensing, and consumer education requirements into a package that would preempt state and local anti-abuse laws. In a statement released last week, Reps. Bob Ney, R-OH, and Paul Kanjorski, D-PA, announced plans to merge pending legislative proposals that would create a national standard on predatory lending.
