Financial services companies need to make more progress in fighting the growing threat of identity theft, a Federal Trade Commissioner told a congressional committee at a recent hearing. “Our emphasis is on preventing breaches before they happen by encouraging businesses and consumers to make security part of their daily routines,” said Commissioner Orson Swindle. He appeared before the House subcommittee on technology and information policy.
