Federal financial regulators are pressing banks to get ready for increased public – and government – scrutiny of their fair lending records as new pricing information about certain loans becomes available in 2005. In addition to reaching out to institutions that may get the most attention under new Home Mortgage Disclosure Act rules, regulators are also considering changes to their fair lending exam procedures and closer scrutiny of bank subsidiaries involved in mortgage activities.
