Mortgage bankers continued to press the Securities and Exchange Commission not to proceed with a controversial accounting bulletin that could disrupt industry financial reporting and lead to more earnings volatility. A senior SEC official announced back in December that the agency planned to issue a staff accounting bulletin on loan commitments. He said the agency has determined that loan commitments that are recognized as derivatives should be classified as liabilities, rather than assets, as
