Mortgage lenders may see margins on FHA lending shrink slightly as the Bush administration moves to bolster appraisal quality in the program. The Department of Housing and Urban Development this week proposed a new regulation designed to clarify and strengthen the FHA lender’s accountability for appraisal quality. The project has been on the agency’s rulemaking agenda for about a year and a half, and industry attorneys have speculated that HUD may not have the
