The processing efficiencies and lower costs promised by electronic commerce are being constrained by state-erected barriers to interstate commerce, according to a financial services lobbying group. The Electronic Financial Services Council, which lists major mortgage companies, Freddie Mac and Microsoft among its members, says the federal government needs to do more to make e-commerce more effective.
