Online originations surged to a record $816 billion through the first nine months of 2003, topping the $677 billion estimated for all of last year, according to Inside Mortgage Technology, an affiliated newsletter. But growth in Internet mortgage production appears to have slowed down, as online originations made up 28.6 percent of the $2.85 trillion in total mortgage originations in the U.S.
