Washington Mutual remained the top mortgage servicer among all banks and thrifts at the end of the first quarter of 2003, with $727.3 billion, according to call report data released by federal financial regulators. The Seattle-based thrift actually saw its servicing portfolio decline by 4.8 percent from the first quarter of last year to the same period in 2003. The vast majority
