The Department of Housing and Urban Development is proposing to make professional accreditation mandatory for FHA appraisers as part of an ongoing effort to protect consumers against property flipping. A proposal published in the Nov. 30 Federal Register would require appraisers to carry state-issued professional credentials before they can be placed on FHA’s roster of approved appraisers. By keeping a list of FHA-approved appraisers, HUD is able to monitor the quality of appraisal work and
