Last year’s heated debate over the need for government-sponsored enterprise reform produced a huge surge in political lobbying expenditures, according to a new year-end analysis of filings by Inside Mortgage Finance. And while Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac still account for the lion’s share of the increased lobbying expenditures by mortgage-related groups, at least one GSE foe – FM Watch – also greatly stepped
