Rep. Marge Roukema, R-NJ, has asked the parliamentarian of the House Financial Services Committee to rule on whether her subcommittee has direct and joint jurisdiction over controversial legislation introduced by fellow Republican Rep. Richard Baker to overhaul government oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Roukema and Baker both sought the chairmanship of the full House Financial Services as the 107th Congress was being organized, but the post was given to Ohio Republican Michael Oxley.
