So-called credit repair letters issued by the Department of Housing and Urban Development as part of an anti-predatory lending workout effort are helping victims of property flipping save their federally insured homes from foreclosures. The letter is provided to a victim of a lending abuse based on a loan-review finding that predatory practices were involved and that the borrower’s credit had been impaired as a result.
