Increased compliance requirements as a result of changes to a number of federal consumer protection laws appear to have fueled a decision last week by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. to field more examination specialists. The agency said the additional manpower would expand the agency’s fair lending examination program nationwide and improve the quality of examinations in each of the agency’s six regions.
