Home-equity mortgage lenders will appeal a federal district court ruling upholding a new Office of Thrift Supervision rule on prepayment and late loan charges under the Alternative Mortgage Transactions Parity Act. Maurice Shevin, general counsel for the National Home Equity Mortgage Association and a partner with Sirote & Permutt, believes the trade group still has a shot at stopping the rule in court.
