The Federal Trade Commission last week endorsed Bush administration proposals to strengthen consumer protections under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. FTC Chairman Timothy Muris weighed in on the Treasury Department proposals during an FCRA hearing conducted by the House Financial Services Committee last week. Legislation is being considered to make permanent expiring national standards under the FCRA.
