Still reeling from recent loan-abuse lawsuits and shareholder unrest, Household International has hired a former state banking regulator to reform its much maligned compliance efforts. Last week, the beleaguered subprime lender announced the appointment of James Kauffman, former chief banking regulator of Pennsylvania, as vice president-director of compliance for consumer lending.
