Prominent religious leaders called upon President Bush early this month to support a bill that would use profits generated by federal housing programs to construct affordable housing across the country. In a joint letter, more than 200 religious leaders representing Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and other faiths urged the President to endorse House and Senate legislation authored by Rep. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, and Sen. John Kerry, D-MA, which would establish a National Affordable
