With federal anti-predatory legislation still a long way off, subprime lenders may be looking at a set of national best practices the Department of the Treasury is developing for the industry. The so-called code of industry best practices could help promote consistency and uniformity among state and local predatory lending laws, according to Treasury Assistant Secretary Sheila Bair.
