The Federal Emergency Management Agency is turning more towards technology to improve its ability to provide federal flood insurance to homeowners and small-business entrepreneurs in flood hazard areas, according to initial findings of an ongoing government study. FEMA, which administers the National Flood Insurance Program, is combining new technologies with its own digital flood maps to obtain accurate data on structures built within "special flood hazard areas," or SFHAs, in order to ascertain the program’s
