Although Fannie Mae boosted its investment in its own mortgage-backed securities by a healthy 19 percent in 2003, the government-sponsored enterprise also trimmed back its holdings of “other” MBS. In fact, Fannie’s holdings of other MBS slipped to at least a three year-low.
