In a move that could have major ramifications for its rival Fannie Mae as well, Freddie Mac this week pledged to clean up its financial reporting by abandoning the use of “operating earnings,” a measure that excluded the impact of FAS 133 on the government-sponsored enterprise’s large derivative holdings.
