Ford Motors claimed the top spot among asset-backed securities issuers for the second year in a row, finishing 2001 with $20.66 billion in issuance, according to new year-end data compiled by Inside MBS & ABS. Combining both its consumer auto loan transactions and its dealer floorplan financing, Ford saw its ABS issuance increase by 5.3 percent over the $19.61 billion it issued in 2000.
