Looking to end a regulatory stalemate that has allowed the Federal Home Loan Banks to avoid registering with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Housing Finance Board Chairman John Korsmo announced this week that he would pursue a plan to compel – if not force – the FHLBanks to “voluntarily” subject themselves to the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.
