A high-ranking Freddie Mac executive Tuesday reaffirmed the company’s use of generally accepted accounting principles, telling a congressional committee that the company has no intention of hiding any gain or loss on any investments from its shareholders or the public. Martin Baumann, executive vice president for finance and chief financial officer at Freddie Mac, said that the government-sponsored enterprise is “committed to following GAAP” despite the accounting mistakes that triggered three federal investigations.
