Developments in the continuing saga of GSE reforms on Capitol Hill could unfold rapidly in the coming weeks, as some observers believe the Bush administration will move quickly to promote its own plan for bolstering Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac oversight. “If these rumors are true, then the administration might bring closure to this issue [of improving supervision of the two main housing-related GSEs],” an industry source said.
