Although the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight was soundly criticized for its handling of Fannie Mae’s duration gap problems last year, it now turns out the agency was a lot tougher on the GSE than previously believed. In its annual report to Congress released last week, OFHEO disclosed it issued a formal “Prompt Supervisory Response and Corrective Action” to Fannie Mae last September.
