The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight has moved aggressively over the past few days to get a regulatory handle on accounting and management oversight problems at Freddie Mac. But this hasn’t deflected criticism that OFHEO has been asleep at the regulatory wheel for most of this year for failing to recognize the extent of accounting problems at the GSE.
