Freddie Mac has moved to the top of the corporate America class in terms of soft money contributions to political parties this year. For the 2001-2002 election cycle, which covers all of last year and through the first half of this year, Freddie spent a huge $2.53 million on soft money donations, beating out the likes of Philip Morris (in second place with $2.28 million) and Microsoft (in third place with $1.67 million).
