The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has warned banks to pay close attention to the repayment ability of borrowers they make loans to and scrutinize the business practices of the brokers and correspondents they do business with. The warnings came in two separate advisory letters, issued last week in conjunction with the agency’s request for comment on a possible order preempting Georgia’s Fair Lending Law.
