California’s predatory lending law takes effect July 1. Among its major provisions: Æ Triggers – The law covers loans with interest rates of 8 percent or more above the yield on comparable Treasury securities or on which the total points and fees paid by the borrower exceed 6 percent of the loan amount. Yield-spread premiums are included in the fee calculation.
