Effective servicing can have a significant effect on loss severity for pools of securitized subprime mortgages, new research from investment bank Credit Suisse First Boston suggests. In a market commentary released last week, CSFB said that subprime loans resolved through foreclosure will suffer loss severities that are at least 15 percent higher than those resolved using various forms of loss mitigation.
