Private mortgage insurers reported a promising 3.8 percent increase in income on their U.S. mortgage insurance operations during the second quarter, but experts remain cautious about the industry’s prospects. The seven private MIs reported a combined $513.1 million in income on domestic insurance business, up from $494.4 million in the first three months of the year. It was also the best quarter for the industry since the second quarter of last year.
