Brokers Originate Slightly Riskier Loans

Loans originated by mortgage brokers tended to have slightly lower credit scores and slightly higher debt-to-income ratios than production by retail lenders and correspondents. After a historically slow start to the year, mortgage originations and loan sales rebounded during the second quarter but remained tepid.
