Angel Oak’s Non-QM Originations Up 31% in Third Quarter

Angel Oak Companies had $891 million in originations of non-qualified mortgages in the third quarter of 2019, the company announced on Wednesday. The lender’s non-QM volume was up by 31% from the previous quarter and up 41% from a year ago.
The bulk of the production has come through Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions, which operates in the wholesale and correspondent channels. Angel Oak Home Loans also originates mortgages through the retail channel.
Angel Oak had $2.1 billion in non-QM originations in the first three quarters of the year, a 52% increase on an annual basis. The firm also issued $2.2 billion of non-agency mortgage-backed securities in the first three quarters of 2019.
“Angel Oak’s securitizations have established significant investor demand because of our frequent issuance, execution and consistent quality,” said Sreeni Prabhu, co-CEO and CIO of Angel Oak Capital Advisors.
