State regulators are about to finalize uniform mortgage license applications that will dramatically reduce compliance burdens for the mortgage industry. Testifying last week during a House Financial Services subcommittee hearing, Joseph Smith, North Carolina’s Commissioner of Banks, said a task force composed of state banking and mortgage regulators is putting the finishing touches on proposed license application drafts for lender and broker companies, individual loan originators, and branch locations.
