OCC Chief Calls for More Financial Literacy Programs

Financial literacy education is one of the best ways to deal with predatory lending, particularly if it’s aimed at those who are often preyed upon, said Comptroller of the Currency John Hawke. In remarks last week at a Community Reinvestment Act conference in Arlington, VA, Hawke said people who have gone through financial literacy programs are more likely to make better economic decisions, own and keep their homes, build personal wealth, and have fewer
